After this long lockdown, I hope you are all okay and have been getting out and about to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. I have been busy designing and making jewellery in lockdown but am now pleased to announce that I have a busy Spring and Summer ahead me with gallery exhibitions and events.
With Covid-19 safety upper-most in the minds of gallery owners, Gallery BN5 in Henfield and Gallery 92 in Hurstpierpoint have both re-opened their doors to the public with my jewellery on show. A visit to either is a treat, with new artists and so many beautiful pieces of wall art and hand-crafted items to see.
From the 29th May, I will be joining three other artists in The Shaftesbury Collective, each weekend until 25th June, as part of the Brighton Artists Open Houses. This venue is hosted by Lucy Cooper who creates colourful screen and digital photographic prints, Bobby Madrigal is an oil painter whose intriguing figurative work is concerned with memory, and Sandrine Jarnet who makes beautiful ceramic pieces. The house is in Shaftesbury Road – very close to Five Ways – a very established trail with plenty of other venues close by, so do drop by and see us if you’re in town. You can follow us on Instagram: @the_shaftesbury_collective.
At the beginning of July, I will be taking part in the Horsham Artists Art Trail over the weekends of 3/4th and 10/11th July. There are 35 artists taking place within 14 different venues in the Horsham District. I will be located at 11, The Causeway (venue 5) in a house located in the most historic part of Horsham town centre. Walking down the Causeway is like stepping back in time with beautiful old buildings, including the museum and art gallery, and the 13th century church of St Mary the Virgin. My hostess there is artist Cherry Parsons who specialises in witty images of cheeky Seagulls. We are also joined by Jill Mills who creates jewellery using fabrics and beads, Deborah Crago who paints detailed botanical subjects and Joanne Wenczka who specialises in animal portraiture. More information about the Art Trail and a map of all the venues will be appearing on the Horsham Artists website soon: www.horshamartists.org.
From 8th July to 5th September I am Guest Artist at The Chalk Gallery in Lewes. This is an exciting opportunity for me as it’s the first time this gallery has featured the work of a jeweller. The gallery is artist-run and always features work of the highest standard. The Chalk is in North Street – a stone’s throw from Lewes High Street with plenty of parking nearby. If you already know Lewes, you don’t need me to tell you what a beautiful and historic town it is. It’s also a very creative place crammed with craft workshops and individual shops.
All the information about dates and opening times of the places mentioned I’ve mentioned can be found on my Events page. If all goes well this Summer, I also hope to be attending events in the Autumn and Winter, so watch this space! I hope to see you very soon.
